A recent documentary that I filmed (Cameraman/DP) with Director Lorenzo Dunoyer - Broadcast on Discovery Channel during the FIFA World Cup in South Africa

The science of the goal, program of TV to celebrate world-wide of soccer Sundays, from the 16 of May to the 6 of June. Discovery Channel celebrates the arrival of one of the waited for sport spectacles with the presentation of four programs dedicated to soccer.

The original production the Science of the Goal will show, on the 16 of May, through graphical animation and interviews, some of the innovations that science and the technology have contributed to this sport, contributing to the improvement of the performance of the players in field and to the bearing of a goal. Sunday, 23 of May, another local production, titled the Generals of Soccer will be presented.

Soccer is the most popular sport of the world, but it is also a business that as much moves trillions of dollars, inverted in training and preparation of future stars, like in scientific researches and technological. In one hour of duration, this program shows some of the technological innovations that play an outstanding role in the evolution of this sport. From the design of new boots that allow the players to run more express and to shoot with more precision and forces, to the modifications undergone by the prescribed balls to make the life of the forwards much more difficult.
The program also shows the new technology that is had been developing in England to improve not only the performance of the players, but also the technical aspect of the game, ensure communications between the trainers and the sportsmen.
The production interviews to stars like the Brazilian player Roberto Carlos, to Latin American technicians and sport commentators and sport and biomechanic medicine specialists, besides to use computerized images and animation in 3D, to show some of the most outstanding plays of the history of soccer and to illustrate the laws of the physics that hide behind these.

Given that this camera has now been superceeded by the HV40 we where curious as to what these new campact HDV 1080i cameras can achieve in low light situations. So we decided to try out the camera under the 2009 Xmas lights on the crossing at Regent and Oxford Street.

We were also keen to be amongst the first music videos to feature the new redesigned Oxford Street crossing based on crossings used in Tokyo - see BBC news http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7997569.stm

The big challenge was to shoot the sequence for the opening verse during a 30 second pause in the traffic emerging from four directions when the lights are phased to allow people to walk safely across the junction diagonally.

You can view the video in a new window by clicking on the thumbnail image above.

By Carol Younghusband / Wall of Angels

Synopsis:
Alzheimer’s Disease is a degenerative and terminal disease for which there is no known cure – and ALBERT has it.

He’s in the last stages when all human behaviour becomes automatic, and the use of language has been lost altogether.

Occasionally patients receive and return emotional signals long after the loss of verbal language and Albert’s story builds towards one such moment.

His wife Josie is aware that time is running out for him and for them, and as her daily visits progress so her vulnerability, hurt and desperation becomes more apparent.

What she does and says to him appears to have no impact; but as voyeurs into his mind we see that it triggers a merging desperation in his memory.

We understand that Albert is everything to Josie; but what is Josie to Albert?

We finally bear witness to the painful intensity which is their love as their parallel lives merge for just 10 glorious seconds.

Please help us to raise funds for this ‘WALL OF ANGELS’ production by clicking on the link below or the image above.

What makes Ten Glorious Seconds - Short Film different:

Alzheimer’s now afflicts more than 30 million people worldwide, and this beautiful film – Ten Glorious Seconds – will underscore and raise awareness of this deadly disease.

After a film festival run we will be distributing the film free of charge to enormous audiences worldwide over the internet. We see the film, a love story, as something that will generate audiences in millions. Many are uncomfortable discussing Alzheimer’s but more of us want and need to talk about it.

So Ten Glorious Seconds will be distributed for free everywhere - via forums and blogs and every social network we can think of. And we will invite all our supporters to forward the finished film out to audiences who they think will also be interested.

The film is a professional production and our low budget reflects that we and the others giving their time to the project for expenses and facilities houses are doing us generous deals.

We have invited Sir Terry Pratchett one of the UK’s best-selling authors onboard as enabling Executive Producer. In 2007 Terry announced that he was suffering from early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, and has been filming a programme chronicling his experiences with the disease for the BBC – we are currently awaiting his decision to come onboard with our project too.

In addition, we have a seasoned director onboard - Simon Pitts – who has 11 years experience as a BBC staff producer and director of radio and television; and I am a published and credited scriptwriter. Our crew are all BBC and other experienced broadcast professionals.

Ten Glorious Seconds is a project of passion and professionalism and we believe it to be timely and extremely worthwhile.

Alzheimer’s Society in the UK works tirelessly to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia and we would ask you to take the time to look at their site (see link above) and also at charity foundations in your own countries.
